French Bread Pizza

1 Loaf of French Bread

1 Jar Pizza Sauce (or homemade sauce – see recipe below)

Toppings of your choice (I used mushrooms, pepperoni, fresh green peppers)

Shredded Italian Cheese

Garlic Salt



Pre-heat your oven to 390 degrees F. Grab your cookie sheet and cut your French bread in half, then cut it in half opening up the bread. Lay it flat on the cookie sheet. Spread a layer of pizza sauce on your bread. Add your toppings, sprinkle with cheese, add a dash of garlic salt and oregano.

Bake in your oven for about 15 mins. You are looking for your French bread to be toasted.

When done remove from the oven and serve hot.

Extra Information…

Homemade Pizza Sauce


1 small can of tomato paste

1 c water (approximately)

1 tsp garlic salt

2 tsp oregano

1 c soft butternut squash (optional if wanting to add extra healthy version)

1 Tbsp flaxeed, ground (optional if want extra fiber)


In a small sauce pan over low to medium heat add tomato paste and water, stirring until well blended. (Add water slowly insuring your sauce consistency is thick like spaghetti sauce.)

Add remaining ingredients stirring until well blended.

1 1/2 c warm water

1/8 c olive oil

1/2 Tbsp honey

1/2 tsp salt

1 Tbsp yeast


While you wait for dough to rise, prepare your toppings.

Toppings I used…

diced green peppers

  • diced Roma tomorrows
  • diced onions
  • quartered pepperoni
  • Italian Shredded cheese
  • oregano
Marinara  Sauce

Warm up sauce in a pan. If you wish to make it from scratch here is a recipe.

  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 3/4 c water (to thin the paste)
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 2 tsp sugar (sweetener of your choice, honey works well)

Preheat oven to 400* degrees. Grease your bundt pan, roll pizza dough into small balls. Layer bottom of pan with dough balls. Add loader of toppings. Sprinkle with cheese and oregano. Add an additional layer of dough balls and add final layer of toppings, cheese, and oregano.

Place in oven for 30 minutes. Dough should look like cooked pizza crust when complete.

Serve with marinara in a separate bowl on side.
