Be Strong and Courageous

There are so many people struggling with anxiety for a variety of issues today.

There are many who are battling with issues Covid-19 has caused. Many are battling the virus, while others may be feeling the effects of having their jobs impacted, or are being forced to live in isolation. It doesn’t matter what your circumstances are, if you are battling with anxiety, then this feeling is real to you.

Some may be experiencing health related issues, or the uncertainty of pending surgeries. These medical concerns may have you consumed because of the pain you are in, or the fear of the bills that may be created as a result of this experience. The anxiety it is causing is real to you.

Some of you who are in school or are going to college may be stressed over the amount of work you have to invest in each class, or the papers you need to write, the exams you need to study for and take, as well as the numerous amount of deadlines that need to be met. This struggle is real and the anxiety is insurmountable.

Some may be in difficult relationships with spouses, family members, or friends. You know the relationship is toxic, but you are not sure how to end it or if you should. What you are certain with is that the pressures and the stress it is causing is more than what you want to continue to live with, but how do you make the changes that need to be made?

It does not matter what the struggle is. What matters is, the struggle is real.

It is my desire and prayer, God will use this Sunday Reminder to give you the strength to “Be Strong and Courageous.”

“…Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Do not be dismayed because God is with you. He is guiding you. He is giving you the strength and the courage you need to battle your anxiety.

Be sure to spend some quiet time with Him today and ask Him for the guidance you need to fight this battle and know He will deliver you the peace and comfort you are in need of. He will walk you through the difficulty and you will begin to experience a peace you didn’t think you could have.

Rest in your Master’s arms and allow Him to free you from all that concerns you today.

Update To Previous Blog Post / “Living My Real”

I’m not sure about you, but I for one, am thankful for the weekend to finally arrive.

While we still have no resolution to if my daughter will have her health insurance come Monday morning, (see my post, “Living My Real” if you are unsure what I am referring to), I have to accept I have no control over the outcome over this stressful situation.

We have done everything we needed to do. We faxed the paperwork to them, not just once, but twice. We faxed their information Wednesday night and again Friday morning.

Now we have to “just” sit and wait and pray when we check her insurance Monday morning we will see nothing has changed. We will see she is still covered like she has been her whole life.

After being consumed by all of this, I had a realization yesterday while I was in my back yard. God revealed to me, no matter how difficult life may be, His beauty is still around us.

Credit: Home. Life. Encouragement

He revealed to me, as I was pruning my roses, that no matter how beautiful life may be, there will always be the thorns in our lives. The thorns keep us alert, but they aren’t meant to consume us. The beauty of the bountiful roses is what we are meant to see.

Many times the beauty is hard to see, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

Are you too, going through a difficult time? Have you forgot what it was like to just “breathe” because your circumstances are all consuming?

Today I have a challenge for both of us. I want you to breathe and open your eyes up to the beauty that surrounds you.

I know so many are experiencing a quarantined life, but I want you to go outside and do something that brings you peace.

Is this the sound of the ocean water and seagulls in the background or the quietness of a hike in the woods?

Is it a quiet walk or a relaxing bike ride?

It doesn’t matter what you do, but I would suggest just going outside, breathe in the fresh air, and just open your heart to God will do wonders to restore your heart and your soul.

Share with Him your need to release this stress and allow Him to replace that stress with a peace that only He can give.

My friend, take some time this weekend to Rest, Breathe, and Repeat.

There Is A Reason For The Season

Credit: Home. Life. Encouragement

Encouragement Today

My friend, Today’s Encouragement will be a simple reminder that no matter what you are going through, whether everything is going well, or whether everything is going badly, there is a reason for all of it.

God reminds us in Ecclesiastes,

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)

If you are going through a difficult time remember this and be encouraged that with every second and every hour God is growing you and molding you for a better plan and purpose.

He never allows us to go through the muddy waters of life without allowing us to use those difficulties later and somewhere else.

I have experienced some great difficulties in my life and as I was going through them, my greatest consolidation was that there was a purpose for it. Whether the purpose was to help me conquer a trial later or if it was to help encourage someone else, I knew in my heart there was a reason for everything I was going through.

It didn’t come easily though, because there were many days I remember saying, “Lord, this is hard, this is really hard, but if you can use this hardship later to make someone else’s life a bit easier, then I will be okay and I can do this, but only with Your strength.”

I needed to know there was a reason and a purpose for the difficult season in my life and God was always there to reassure me there was.

My friend, if this is you today and you are struggling in a difficult relationship, you are struggling financially, or you are struggling with a sick family member, a close friend or even a spouse. It doesn’t matter if it is all of these or none of these. What matters if you are having a difficult time is to remember these simple, but powerful words;

“There is none like You, Lord.”

Jeremiah 10:7

Stand tall today, hold your head just a little bit higher, and know your God knows you, sees you, and above all else, loves you.

Make Today A Good Day

Encouragement Today and Motivation Monday

Today’s motivation was inspired by his simple quote,

Today is a good day to make it a good Monday.” Author Unknown

Do not spend your time consumed by it being a difficult day, that you are not able to see the blessings that may be hidden it,

Your Monday’s are all in how you look at them.

Your challenge today is to make a good one.

Healthy Steps Forward

Encouragement Today

January 3, 2018

Today was another step in the direction of change.

We pulled down the Christmas stuff and the house is back to being just plain and boring. However, it will be nice to get it clean again.

B546F0A4-0BEE-4B91-B517-DDDEAD713FCAThis is what our tree looks like now. This is twenty years of packaging tape. We always joke that our tree box is just tape holding cardboard together. Does anyone else’s box look like this too?

So, I am curious what your plans are for the year to come?  I am not a resolution maker, but I am all about making goals this year.

We have lived on the edge for a long time and as a result we have fallen into survival mode.  I do not want to live another year of what we have been living through.

This has to change. No other option is acceptable to me.

B2DEA674-C29C-429D-ABD3-CCB5AE907EA1I have lost myself over the past couple of years. So much so I don’t even know what I like anymore. I don’t have a favorite song or favorite radio station or tv show. I don’t have a favorite activity or anything any more.

  • My personal goal is to rediscover myself again. My quest isn’t to find my old self, but it is to find my new self. I want to find the one who has gained wisdom and experience from our years of hardships.
  • I am desperate to get my home and life organized again. I have learned when you are in survival mode, you loose track of a lot of responsibilities. This isn’t a good thing because now I am behind in everything in life. I am behind in filing paperwork, cleaning, and decorating. I will be extremely happy to see all of this come together again for the peace of mind I need again.
  • I want to start a small home business venture to make some money to help out financially so we can become financially stable again. I am still praying about the small business option though. If it truly becomes something I will be making an announcement here once God works out the details.
  • I need to learn how to become assertive so I can stand my ground with people who run over the top of me. I need to learn how to set up boundaries and stick by them.

““Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  • I am also desperately seeking how to do self care. This is extremely hard for me and because I don’t do it therefore I am crashing before my own eyes.
  • I need to work out the details now to put goals and deadlines to them so I stay focused on making these happen for me,

How about you? What do you want to do in the year to come? Leave your responses in the comments below.

Maybe this can be the blog pos that helps us to provide accountability and encouragement so we can successfully meet our goals.

Ok Friends, I have put some of my personal goals out there, now it is your turn.

Focus on Only Today

Encouragement Today

“Enjoy Today for Today.

Do not focus on yesterday or tomorrow, just focus on today.”

– A Random Sweet Surgical Nurse

I remember a day back in February when I was at the hospital after my husband had surgery and I was stopped in the hall by a really sweet nurse. She had asked how I was doing as I am sure she could see the pure exhaustion on my face.

What she didn’t know at the time when she stopped me was my daughter had just had surgery of her own not just two weeks prior and she hadn’t recouperated for herself yet when my husband had gone down to a major surgery.

I was just moving like the energizer bunny on pure adrenaline. I was just going through the motions because that was all I could do at that time, but as I talked to this sweet nurse, she reminded me of a truth I still remember today.

“Today is just today. Focus on only what is here today. Not tomorrow, not yesterday, only today.”

Those words came to mind today as I started my day again with what it holds for me and my daughter. Another day and another doctor appointment. This is our “normal” despite how exhausting it is to have multiple appointments week after week.

As I got up refreshed this morning from the pure anxiety of what yesterday held, I felt relieved to know yesterday was done, but that was only until I remembered what today held for us. Thankfully these simple words came back to mind and brought me peace and comfort.

Are you experiencing a difficult time in your life? Are you running on pure adrenaline with the hopes it will sustain you until you can truly stop and breathe again.

Let these simple words bring you peace and encouragement today. Just focus on today, my friend.

I learned that was half the battle of getting through a day.

All too many times we get trapped into thinking about yesterday and how if we made different choices or decisions then today might be a little bit easier, or thinking about the worries of tomorrow, which only serves to compound the worry, stress, and exhaustion of today.

Stop! Today is Just Today.

Meditate on this verse today and allow it to bring a peace and calm to your spirit, mind, and body.

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Hang in there my friend. You’ve got this no matter what is going on. You’ve got it because God has you. He is holding you up in His arms. Turn your worries, frustrations, and fears over to Him and let Him comfort you today. Enjoy and bask in the peace He will share with you today and focus only on that peace “today”.

Broken Pieces

design-23Motivation Monday

Does life seem like it is falling apart?

Does it seem like more things go wrong then right?

I saw this quote and I hope it helps to encourages you and gives you hope there is a brighter future.

This time of hardship won’t last forever.

Thankfully there are always bright rainbows after the storm.

Don’t allow your broken pieces of life weigh you down.

Look up and watch for your rainbow to appear through the falling raindrops.

While you are looking up look to God to show you which of your broken pieces He wants you to pick up to build a new life with.

Hugs Sweet Friend! You’ve got this! You can do it.  Your beautiful life is waiting for you.

Recovering From A Difficult Week

Encouragement Today

Are you waking up feeling overwhelmed by your week or by events going on in your life? Embrace today as a day of recovery.

Take time out today my friend to regroup your thoughts. Ask God to clear your mind of everything that is overwhelming to you. Ask Him to help you refocus your thoughts on Him for today. He has your burdens already. He knows the outcome to all of them. We just have to learn to give them back to Him and free ourselves of that bondage.

Today is a good day to simply breathe.

Take back your thoughts. Take back your emotions. Take back your feelings. Take back your life. Take back all that has been held captive by your busyness, chaos, grief, and stress.

Below are some ideas to recapture the inner you:

  • Is there a chore you have been wanting to tackle that is weighing heavy on you but you put if off for another day, tackle it if it is going to make you feel good when it is done? DO IT!
  • Have you been wanting to go for a walk, just you alone with your headphones and some praise and worship music? DO IT!
  • Do you want to walk along the beach and have the wind just blow through your hair? DO IT!
  • Do you want to build something or create something? DO IT!
  • Do you want to curl up on the couch and read a book you have put on the back burner? DO IT!

My friend, life may be difficult at best, but don’t loose hope that God has a brighter future ahead. He is molding you, refining you, and preparing you with the strength you will need for the future. Don’t look down upon this experience as He has everything in your life completely prepared in advance. He loves you. He isn’t purposely allowing you to hurt because He loves you even more than you can possibly imagine. Trust in Him and give Him your all, your everything.

“Yes, my soul, find rest in GOD; my hope comes from Him.”  Ps 62:5

Here is an amazing song that will provide encouragement to jump start your day of healing. I turned on my Pandora this morning while making pancakes for my family and this was playing first thing. It was an encouragement to me and I hope it is to you as well.

Kari Jobe/You Steady My Heart (My link isn’t working again, but if you type this song into YouTube it will come up). I included the lyrics below because they are that powerful.

Steady My Heart ~ Lyrics

Kari Jobe

Wish it could be easy
Why is life so messy?
Why is pain a part of us?
There are days I feel like
Nothing ever goes right

Sometimes it just hurts so much

But You’re here
You’re real
I know I can trust You

Even when it hurts
Even when it’s hard
Even when it all just falls apart
I will run to You
‘Cause I know that You are

Lover of my soul
Healer of my scars
You steady my heart
You steady my heart

I’m not gonna worry
I know that You’ve got me
Right inside the palm of your hand
Each and every moment
What’s good and what gets broken
Happens just the way You plan

You are here
You’re real
I know I can trust You

Even when it hurts
Even when it’s hard
Even when it all just falls apart
I will run to You
‘Cause I know that You are
Lover of my soul
Healer of my scars
You steady

Encouragement Today

One Day At A Time

Just a reminder today to look at only “today” if you find your schedule is overwhelming.

God directs us to only look at today and to only worry about today for tomorrow has its own worries.

You’ve got this friend!

Just put one foot in front of the other for just today.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. Matthew 6:34 NIV
