Celebrate and Reflect

Easter Greetings

Today is a day of celebration and reflection as we take the time to share this sweet Easter Day together.

Whether you are alone or you are with family or friends, take some time today to not only celebrate the bunny and the eggs, but celebrate and reflect back on the reason for the season.

My friend, Christ came to walk the Earth just like you and I. He had people who liked Him and loved Him as well as people who did not, but He stood steadfast on the truth He preached leading up to this time of His death and His resurrection.

Despite Christ, who called out,

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?” Psalm 22:1 NIV

The gentle reminder here is His Father never left Him, no matter how much pain He was in or how lonely He felt at the dark moment.

My Friend, God knew everything going on during that horrible day. None of this was a surprise to Him, because there was a mighty plan and a purpose for His Son to suffer that unbearable pain and death.

God had to watch His Son die an excruciating death in order to save each and everyone of us from our own mortality.

Jesus died so that we would live,

“For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:14‬ NIV

My friend, just as Christ felt alone that one dark Friday, two-thousand of years ago, there was a joy in the celebration of His resurrection three days later.

No matter where you are in your journey, what pain you may be feeling, or how dark your life may feel, remember this truth today;

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Just as God allowed His Son to suffer on that cross, He welcomed Him in His arms immediately following His death.

My friend, God has a plan for you as well. As a result of His Son, Jesus’ death, we now have life. This life is not dependent on how easy or difficult your life may be, but it is a promise God has offered to us, if we choose to accept this gift.

I have a challenge for you if you find yourself in a difficult situation. Take some time today to reflect back on where you have been, where you are, and where you are going in your life. Take some time to reflect back on how God has been with you and has not forsaken you, just as He did not forsake His only Son as He hung on a cross.

My friend, you may be saying, but He hasn’t been here with me. He has abandoned me because I wouldn’t be where I am today if He had not.

I am here to gently remind you just as Christ, for a moment, thought the same thing; we know from scriptures that God did not abandoned His Son, just as He has not abandoned you.

No matter how difficult today may be for you, take the time to celebrate our Risen Savior, for through His death, we will live.

Happy Easter!

Beautiful Easter Flower Cake

IMG_20130330_183433.jpg

Are you looking for an easy idea for an Easter desert today? Here is a really cute one I made a few years ago using Easter peeps. I love sunflowers so I chose the yellow peeps, but you can use any color for any flower.

Ingredients

1 box of cake mix (your choice)

1 tub of frosting (your choice) * (see below for a homemade recipe)

approximately 12-16 peeps depending on the size of your cake

approximately 1/2 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Prepare the cake according to the directions on the box. Once the cake is cooled frost it completely. When frosted add the peeps to the outer edge of the cake with the peeps facing outward. Lastly, add a layer of chocolate chips to form the seeds to the flower. Be sure to place with the tops facing upward.

Enjoy your beautiful flower when finished.

Celebrating This Easter Day

Encouragement Today

design-83

Today’s Encouragement is coming from the inspiration of our risen Savior. Today is Easter and in our society it is all to easy to get lost in the frilly dresses, pretty bonnets, freshly decorated eggs, and chocolate bunnies.

Now, do not take me wrong, we do both in our home. We have always given our daughter an Easter basket, but we taught her from the very beginning this is not the real meaning behind Easter.

We taught her that her risen Savior was crucified and risen three days later to save her and the rest of us from our sins. This is the true meaning behind Easter.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him shall not parish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 (NIV)

So while the eggs and the chocolate bunnies are fun and entertaining, it is important that we do not forget the real meaning which is found in our Savior who was crucified and risen three days later in atonement for our sins.

It is my prayer this Easter Day that you find encouragement and hope that Christ is the center of your life because you have asked him into your heart and bowed before him seeking His forgiveness for your sins for this is where you will find the real message of this Easter Day.

Happy Easter from my home to yours.
