Notes of Kindness

Leaving Simple Notes

Random Acts of Kindness are investments worth making in someone who means a lot to you.

Simple notes are truly the most thoughtful gift anyone could ever give someone.

Consider leaving one for someone where they least expect it to let them know they were thought of or loved today.

The image above was the sweet and unexpected note I found on my computer after my daughter left for work today. This simple gesture put a smile on both my face and my heart.

Consider doing the same for someone you come in contact with today.

It doesn’t have to be a family member. Consider a co-worker who may be having a difficult day or the waitress who appears tired in a restaurant.

It doesn’t matter who it is for so long as you do it for someone who God puts on your heart.

Happy Note Day!

Be The Sun In Someone’s Day

Encouragement Today

design-215

Today’s Encouragement is inspired by the resilience of the American people while struggling through this catastrophic hurricane, Hurricane Florence.

“If you are feeling helpless, help someone.” Aung San Suu Kyi

It truly breaks my heart to see all the devastation occurring just south of us, but to see people helping people is a refreshing sight. It is reassuring during times as these to see people coming together from all over the Country to assist and aid in the rescue of vulnerable people who are in harm’s way.

My Friend, if you are in a place in your life where you are struggling and life seems dark and cloudy, consider helping someone else who appears to be struggling. Do you know a friend who could use to be uplifted, or do you have a neighbor who is struggling to keep up with things around the house? Do you know someone who has been sick and could use a few groceries, but is too weak to go out and get them? Do you know someone who recently lost a loved one or someone dear to them? Consider buying some random flowers and taking them to their door. There is a need for help, but we just need to open up our own eyes to see that it is all around us.

All to often, we get trapped in our own little worlds that we forget there is a great big one just outside our own window. My friend, consider opening up the curtains in your house and raising the blinds that have you isolated from those around you and consider reaching out to someone today to bring a smile to their face and to spread just a little bit of sunshine on their dark and gloomy day.

It really does not take much effort. If you are not a person who feels comfortable doing this, then consider something as simple as smiling at a total stranger who is least expecting it and see what it does for them. It is just a small and simple gesture but can hold a massive amount of weight. It can hold so much weight that it may even be the difference between someone caring about life and not caring.

There is truly something healing and refreshing when you take the time to help someone else. Reach out to someone who is in need of a smile, a word of encouragement, or some physical work done because they are not able to do for themselves.

A simple act of kindness has a tremendous amount of healing power, be that source of help and encouragement to someone else today.

Strangers Helping Strangers

Encouragement Today

design-132I am going to share a wonderfully encouraging story about when humanity does the right thing. I just wish this was something I did not have to write about because to write about it means it is something that does not happen regularly anymore.

I spend a lot of time on the road going between doctor appointments, errands, and taking my Kiddo back and forth to work.

Yesterday afternoon as I was driving home there had been a drawbridge lift which stopped the flow of traffic. Once the traffic started moving again, I observed an older gentleman whose truck broke down and he was trying to push it off to the side of the road while the intense traffic continued to swerve around him.

As I realized what was happening I noticed there was a semi truck behind him and was concerned it could become a bad situation for this man. I became relieved when I realized the semi truck driver was not going to go around him. Instead, he used his truck as a shield to protect this gentleman as well as he helped this older man push his truck out of the road. I was awestruck because not only did the semi-truck driver offer his help but so did two other drivers. They went out of their way by pulling off the side of the road to purposely help this stranded man.

This touched my heart because you do not see this anymore. I spend so much time on the road with mean drivers that to see this random act of kindness brought a moment of peacefulness to my heart. God has a command for us to do this, but most people do not.

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31 NIV

God wants us to treat others as we want to be treated. This was a beautiful example of this. Man helping man. Young men helping an older man. This was the true meaning of helping others.

I am going to present a challenge for you today to think about what you can do to help someone and brighten their day by a few kind words or a kind gesture.

Life is fragile and unpredictable and we never know when we could find ourselves in a position of needing someone to encourage us or even help us. Think about and watch for an opportunity to help someone else today.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have a wonderful story where you witnessed a wonderful random act of kindness as well.

Changing Lives One Smile At A Time

Encouragement Today

E0A05B9B-7F0E-46E9-BC9B-D9CC6A4ACBC4Today’s Encouragement  is coming in the form of a challenge.

Think about something you have experienced whether good or bad. Now ask God to show you someone, whether you know them, are related to them, or they are total strangers who may be experiencing something similar to what you have experienced.

Today’s challenge is to do something that will encourage them and bring a smile to their face. It can be as simple or complex as you make it, but consider this random act of kindness that will make their life just a little bit happier if for nothing more than for a moment in time.

Think about if you have lost a job and you see or know someone who is struggling in a similar situation.  Consider going to the store and buy a few things that you wished you had when you were in a similar circumstance. Did you have pets during that time, but you did not know how you were going to feed them? Consider buying your person a bag of pet food. You know what it would have meant had someone done that for you. Do you have children and you have seen them hungry, but could not afford food let alone simple snacks? Consider buying  some snacks that are age appropriate for your person who may be experiencing the same situation.

Have you lost a family pet that just left you devastated and lost? Consider giving your person a pet treasure box so they have a place to put their treasured pet’s favorite things. They can fill it with pictures, their favorite toys, their pet collar, their leash that will remind then of special adventures or walks they took every day. This will provide comfort to your special person.

I can think of many more suggestions, but I believe this should be enough to get your mind to thinking about what you can do for someone else who is in need of encouragement today.

Good luck as you perform this challenge. It is my prayer that as you are encouraging others, that you will be encouraged as well.

If you would like to share your challenge, feel free to leave it below in the comments section. It will be fun to see some of the things you did for your challenge.

Encouraging Others This Christmas Season

Christmas Encouragement

December 20, 2017

There is nothing more comforting then to receive a note of encouragement when you least expected it.

How many times has your heart been heavy with the burdens of life and you just did not know what you were going to do until you either read or heard some words of encouragement which changed your perspective on your circumstances?

The power of encouraging words can truly be a gift at this time of the year. If you see someone who appears to be down, try giving them a warm smile and a simple word of encouragement which God will place on your heart at that moment.

Allow God to use you to touch the heart of someone today.

Let your words be as simple as a Merry Christmas to the unexpected person you are passing on the street or in the grocery store isle, who appears to be sad or lonely. You never know how much they will mean to this person.

If God allows, watch for an opportunity to go beyond a mere Merry Christmas greeting and use your words of encouragement to go beyond the simple foundation to meet at the core of someone’s spirit.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.” Romans 15:5 NIV

Share with them a gift they could never buy.

Share with them a gift that will touch their life forever.

Opening Our Hearts To Others

Christmas Encouragement Today

4D5963C5-7EAE-4998-978B-64249BFCF97EDuring this busy season do not forget to take the time to be a friend to those you love or show a simple act of kindness to the stranger on the street.

The simple random act of kindness can leave the biggest impact on the person who is in need of it. Consider opening your heart and be that person this year.

The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others’ burdens, easing other’s loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas. ~W.C. Jones

Showing your love and kindness doesn’t come with a price tag, but is the greatest gift you can give someone this holiday season.

Being Thankful For Random Acts of Kindness

Happy Thanksgiving

I am going against the tradition of thankfulness this year.

A02A6CDC-3F9F-4222-BD44-F2EDFF0AB820Everyone is always thankful for family and friends and I am as well, but this year I want to express my thankfulness to the person who shows a random act of kindness.

This is the person who goes against the norm of selfishness and thinks of someone else in an unexpected way.

I’m thankful for the person who says, “No wait, let me get that door for you. Do you need help with that?”  Any random at of kindness has a way of changing a person’s life.

This is the person I am thankful this year for. Take a moment out of your day and be that person who can change the heart of a random stranger.

You never know how God is working. He could orchestrate it to where this stranger becomes a lasting friend in the end.

Consider today on this day of Thanksgiving about what random act of kindness could you do to touch someone’s life today.

Now back to tradition. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone I know and love.

Random Acts of Kindness

Kindness Produces Encouragement in Others

Good Evening Friends. I hope your week has started out well. As we all know, Monday’s can often times bring great struggles.

Tonight’s encouragement will be short, but it is my prayer that it will be encouraging and enlightening.

How many times do we get trapped in our little world where life is all about “us”. We are all in a hurry to drive down the road. We are in a hurry to get out of the line at the grocery store. Everything we do in life we are always one step behind where we want to be.

I know when God created us He never intended for us to be rude and disrespectful to each other on a consistent basis, but yet we do it without even thinkinIMG_1696g about it any more..

Everywhere we turn someone is giving a dirty look, honking their horn at you, yelling at you, or just being down right ugly.

The question I have is why? Where did the simple thing called manners go? Why is it so easy to just be nasty to someone, mostly strangers, why? Just because we can? In my opinion, this is not acceptable.

God wants us, His people, to be everything that is the opposite of what the “world’ views as acceptable behavior.

“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God commanded us to love one another, show compassion and be sympathetic as well as encourage one another.  He never intended us to be rude and disrespectful. We aren’t to gain anything as a believer from this unacceptable behavior. If we do as God asks of us, He will bless us as we bless others.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had,”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I have a challenge as we proceed through our busy weeks. Consider your actions towards strangers, your friends, your co~workers, your boss. Anyone you come in contact with this week,

How can you make a difference in their lives? Consider how you can touch their heart whether it be just a moment in time or whether you can deeply touch them. How can you make a difference which will allow a person to see God shining through you?

Consider this thought. God may have been preparing the heart of the person you may come in contact with and has full intentions of using you to touch them. Who are you to hinder the work of God’s plans by being stubborn and disrespectful to people whether you know them or you don’t?

As you drive to work tomorrow and you encounter rush hour traffic, instead of being rude and not let someone in the road, take a step back and be nice if you feel God leading you to do so. IF you are at the grocery store and you have a shopping cart full of groceries consider letting the person with only one thing in their hand go ahead of you.  To you gentlemen reading my post, how about you hold the door open for the lady going in or out of a store or business. It is amazing to me the amount of men who don’t do this for ladies any more.

These are random acts of kindness that can impact a person’s day and either help them to turn a bad day into a good day, or it can at least put a smile on their face.

Consider this my friends, allow God to use you to impact the lives of other people around you. It is always wonderful when you can encourage people you know, but be available to encourage the people you do not know. Allow God into your heart and ask Him when you start your day, how can I impact someone’s life today? How can I bring a smile to someone’s face?

If you have a random act of kindness and wish to share the amazing experience, please share in the comments block below so we can all rejoice along beside you how God used you to bless and encourage another person.
