Inspiration Can Come From The Miracle of Bread and Fish

Encouragement Today

7B53D76C-B9A4-4EB2-819E-252074252208Today’s Encouragement  was inspired by a friend who was encouraging me as I was sharing with her, a hope and dream I have to make some extra money for our family.

Moms are a lot like Jesus. You can give us a fish and loaf of bread and we stretch it out for a month. It’s what we do as women.

C. Hoover

I have heard this bible story my entire life, but found this encouraging the way she used it to inspire me. I attached the Biblical version for those who may not be aware of it.

16 “But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.”  Matthew 14:16-21 NKJV

In this quote she used mom’s because we are both moms who know how difficult it is to financially struggle at times. However, this can apply to anyone whether you are a parent or you are single person with no children.

The key to this quote is to remember, no matter how little you may have or how difficult your circumstances may be, God is always here to encourage and bless you.

Do you have a need that is difficult to find a solution to? My Friend, turn it over to God while putting your trust and faith in Him to provide for it. There is never anything too big for Him to handle.

God is in the miracle business. He fed five thousand people with only two fish and five loaves of bread. He turned water into wine. He raised the dead to life. He healed many as well. These are just a few of His miracles, but the meanings are to show and remind us that God is fully capable of meeting each and every need we have today.

My Friend, Today’s Encouragement is to remind you, no matter what your need, situation, or circumstances are, they will never be too big for God to help you with. You need to simply ask knowing with faith and trust that He will meet your need, but remember, in His timing. You have to keep your heart open to hear and wait for His answers as His timing doesn’t always equate to ours. You have to wait on Him like a child does with a parent, to see if your answer will be yes, no, or maybe. Be mindful while you wait, that He allows circumstances to come and go from our lives for a reason, because nothing He does is ever by accident. These circumstances often lead you to the solution you are waiting for. You have to remain patient and remain open minded to watch and wait for your answers.

Weekend Reminder

9714F569-2CB9-4704-A11B-83FF2DCFF913.pngShadow is bringing your weekend encouragement this week.

“Weekends don’t count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.”

– Bill Watterson

He is encouraging you to do something just for fun. He would suggest some weekend pet time if you have one.

Pets have a way to taking all the worries of the world away. They love you unconditionally and would love to spend some time with you.

Consider taking them for a walk or a play date at the dog park, or play a nice game of fetch with their favorite toy or ball.

You will be amazed at how much you can unwind just by investing some mindless time and activity with your “fur”-real friend.

For those who do not have a pet, make some time to do a pointless activity to just get away from the stress of your busy week or your job.

Are you a college student who has a mountain of homework or are you a Soldier getting ready for a deployment? Are you a mom or dad who has sick loved ones at home during this outbreak of the flu and numerous other illnesses? Are you a single parent just trying to survive? Are you a doctor who has been working countless hours as a result of all the sickness going around or a professional who carries the weight of the world on your shoulders? It doesn’t matter what your profession is, everyone has a stressful life.

My Friend, this is why it is important to take a step back and just get away to breathe. Grab that book, a movie, a walk on the beach, a bike ride in a park. Find what you love to do and just do it. Your mind, body, and soul will  thank you.

Happy Weekend!

Encouragement Today

B95A8528-455C-4B1A-89D0-5FF7769D5299Today is an Encouragement that a pucture will have to speake a thousand words.

I had a late night yesterday and my ancient dog had me up several times.

My brain has not found it’s words and my eyes just want to go back to sleep, but that just isn’t going to happen. I have a busy day that is about to start once I get done here.

I hope everyone has a good day. Try to make it one of your best ones you haven’t had for a while.

Healthy Steps Forward

Encouragement Today

January 3, 2018

Today was another step in the direction of change.

We pulled down the Christmas stuff and the house is back to being just plain and boring. However, it will be nice to get it clean again.

B546F0A4-0BEE-4B91-B517-DDDEAD713FCAThis is what our tree looks like now. This is twenty years of packaging tape. We always joke that our tree box is just tape holding cardboard together. Does anyone else’s box look like this too?

So, I am curious what your plans are for the year to come?  I am not a resolution maker, but I am all about making goals this year.

We have lived on the edge for a long time and as a result we have fallen into survival mode.  I do not want to live another year of what we have been living through.

This has to change. No other option is acceptable to me.

B2DEA674-C29C-429D-ABD3-CCB5AE907EA1I have lost myself over the past couple of years. So much so I don’t even know what I like anymore. I don’t have a favorite song or favorite radio station or tv show. I don’t have a favorite activity or anything any more.

  • My personal goal is to rediscover myself again. My quest isn’t to find my old self, but it is to find my new self. I want to find the one who has gained wisdom and experience from our years of hardships.
  • I am desperate to get my home and life organized again. I have learned when you are in survival mode, you loose track of a lot of responsibilities. This isn’t a good thing because now I am behind in everything in life. I am behind in filing paperwork, cleaning, and decorating. I will be extremely happy to see all of this come together again for the peace of mind I need again.
  • I want to start a small home business venture to make some money to help out financially so we can become financially stable again. I am still praying about the small business option though. If it truly becomes something I will be making an announcement here once God works out the details.
  • I need to learn how to become assertive so I can stand my ground with people who run over the top of me. I need to learn how to set up boundaries and stick by them.

““Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  • I am also desperately seeking how to do self care. This is extremely hard for me and because I don’t do it therefore I am crashing before my own eyes.
  • I need to work out the details now to put goals and deadlines to them so I stay focused on making these happen for me,

How about you? What do you want to do in the year to come? Leave your responses in the comments below.

Maybe this can be the blog pos that helps us to provide accountability and encouragement so we can successfully meet our goals.

Ok Friends, I have put some of my personal goals out there, now it is your turn.

25 Day Count Down Christmas Desserts

Day 11

December 11, 2017

design-10This is one of my go to recipes when I am pulling cookies together for Christmas cookie platters. It is also good if you need a cookie for a cookie I exchange program. They are simple and delicious.

1/2 c butter

1/2 c creamy peanut butter

1/2 c sugar

1/2 c packed down sugar

1 egg

1 1/4 c flour

1 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 bag Hershey’s Kisses

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix together the first 5 ingredients; then add remaining flour and mix until you form a sticky dough. Roll into small balls and place onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until just golden brown. Place unwrapped Hershey Kiss in center of each cookie, while they are still hot. Makes approximately 48 cookies.

Happy Baking! 🍪
