Days of Celebrations
The day is coming to a close after a very long and tiring day preparing for and celebrating my daughter’s 20th birthday.
Our family and a couple family adopted extras (aka, extra special friends) came by to celebrate her sweet day with us.
In the midst of preparing for today I thought back to when my daughter was born, as I’m sure most mothers do. I found this year to be a bit emotional for me. I’m not sure why, but suspect it’s because she is no longer considered a teenager, but a twenty something now.
I thought back to all the things I have taught her. I initially taught her her abc’s and 123’s. I taught her how to color and cut paper. I taught her how to add 1+1=2 and how to read. I taught her about her bible stories and to memorize the National Anthem and her Pledge of Allegiance.
Now she is all grown up. She has learned what she needed from me. Now my mom role has changed from leader and teacher to an encourager and listener. I have to choose wisely how I guide her now. The time has come where I have to trust how I raised her and trust between her and God that she will make wise choices.
As I close out the day I want to thank God for allowing me the pleasure to have been chosen to be my sweet daughter’s mom.
We have had many good times and met many obstacles along the way, but at the end of the day our relationship has been solid and I am so blessed for this to be true.
A good child she was and an wonderful teenager she became. Now she has formally bridged the world of adulthood, I just know she will be amazing and will accomplish anything and everything she puts her mind to.
Once God paves the ways for her unresolved health issues to get figured out, I know her life will be able to flourish. I know she will follow her dreams and accomplish what she sets her mind too. She is a strong and courageous person. She has battled many obstacles along her way and she always comes out conquering them. I have faith in God that she will become and amazing young woman who will accomplish what she set her mind to.
Please God, I pray, you meet her health issues with answers and resolve her pain to where she can gain her life back. I know You have a mighty plan for her life and I pray You will protect her and guide her along the path she is meant to take. With You leading the way, I have a peace that she will be just fine. In Your Precious Name, Amen.
